I'm speechless... well maybe not quite :)
So I just went to my bucketlist website to add another goal (Save a life by donating bone marrow - you can register here) and decided to peruse others' goals to see if I can find any new inspiration. Instead I found one that said, To hug a polar bear. No really. This person has added, hug a polar bear, to their life's aspirations. Now I suppose there's a chance that this person could be a zoo keeper. And for a moment that almost makes it seem like it's not the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Almost.
I mean seriously. Have they started playing the Coca-Cola Christmas commercials a little early this year? Does she have any idea how huge and not fuzzy teddy bear like they are? I'll leave this youtube video in dedication to them, a possible future Darwin Award winner. They may accomplish their goal, but it'll likely be the last one they ever do.

It's been how long since I've posted?!
So it's been forever since I've posted or even been to this blog! Life has been crazy but good! I've been busy with school but also making plans that go along with my bucketlist so not entirely slacking, more like neglecting :) I've recently made the inevitable change to my major(s! I'm not going to major in Sociology and Spanish! Very excited!) as well as the decision to transfer to a different college than I had originally planned, which means I'll be moving in about 6 months! I'm really excited about all these changes!
I'm also failing my remedial math class, but it turns out it's okay and that I didn't need to take it in the first place! Ha! Hooray for a liberal arts major! So now I just need to take one more super simple math class specifically for liberal arts majors. I think they should call it Right Brained Math :)
Also in the works are a trip to Washington next summer that will include skydiving #something or other on my list! and a trip back to southern Utah which is always awesome! Good things are in the works! Stay tuned :)
Things I'm grateful for: Waiting till now to go to school because now I really appreciate it, Ollie dog snuggles, support of friends and family, no more summer heat and a pizza that's ready to be pulled out of the oven :)

Beautiful Day!
Terrible quality photo, but you get the idea :) |
So this morning I took the dogs for a hike, one more romp before they say goodbye to their jewels :) I decided to go on a whim after dropping skinny and hawk off at school. I was wearing pj's and flip flops, so it was only a 45 or so minute hike, but it was beautiful. The leaves are changing and the air is crisp and clean. I always come back feeling so energized and refreshed it's amazing to me that I can talk myself out of going as much as I do! So I'm setting a goal for myself to schedule either a morning hike or walk around the lake at least 3 times a week, but hopefully more. Might have to do some evenings, but mornings are my favorite because it leaves me with the energy and motivation to get more done throughout the day. Beyond that, it's time to change my eating habits once and for all. After considering doing Isagenix again, South Beach again, etc I finally decided that Eat to Live is just how I should be eating anyway. I had recently made the decision that I wanted to eat fish occasionally but still overall wanted to eat vegan. The most difficult things about eating this way will be giving up soda, cheese and sugar. Difficult, but I know it's the only way to permanently lose weight and live a healthy, active life. The author of the book recommends eating this way about 90% of the time once the goal weight has been achieved. I think that's reasonable, eating healthy but not so strict with this way of eating that you give up anything you've ever loved. I plan on making a lot of smoothies (to cover up a lot of veggies with fruit :)) and salads, roasted veggies, occasionally fish or tofu, steel cut oats and other whole grains. If I start this now it's at the absolutely worst time with all the holidays coming up. For now I think I'm going to focus on giving up soda, juice, etc and drinking water, and eating more fruits and veggies. Baby steps :)
Today I'm grateful for living in beautiful Colorado with easy access to a lot of amazing hikes, clementine oranges, cool fall days, great hiking buddies and chai.

Glittens Instructable
After a couple of re-do's, I successfully made my son some glittens :) He wanted them to be longer than normal and I like how that turned out. He's thrilled, I'm exhausted lol My biggest tip is make sure the stretch is going in the right direction, width not length. That made allllllll the difference ;) I will definitely be making Skinny a pair of these and of course myself some too. Maybe tomorrow...
(also please ignore my not quite all the way painted wall) :D
It's a new day...
Actually I'm done waiting :) I give up. As my dear friend Adam told me, stop fooling yourself into thinking you need a man to be happy, you're smarter than that. Point taken. Finally. So instead, I'll focus on my list(s) here and decide what I want to be when I grow up. Just last week I had posted on FB that I finally knew what I wanted to do with my life.
Oh sweet relief! Oh blessed happy day!
The plan was to do marketing/advertising for a non-profit (the dream was this one) buy land in southern Colorado and build an earthship. Sweet right?
Well then this week I began training to volunteer as a docent for the semi-local zoo (30ish miles away) and I forgot how much I love biology and learning about animals etc. My childhood came rushing back to me. A time when I wanted to be pretty much anything as long as it was working with animals. Usually not a vet though, even then I knew I didn't want to go to school that long. Or handle a scalpel. So I'm back to where I was as a kid. The problem comes in (and why I veered toward a liberal arts major...) was that I super suck at math. ditto for chemistry. There's more than just a little math and chemistry for a biology major. There are of course tutors and such but I'd likely be spending a lot of time at the school, which again is over 30 miles away. And then even if I get past that, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up... a zookeeper?? ... ... ... well, maybe actually... :D The point is that this could possibly change all my plans, even the earthship. So... I'm not really sure. I need to do some soul searching here. Fairly quickly because I'll need to register for spring semester before long :)
I'll get back to you. Soon I hope.
... and I do in fact plan on working on the lists. Really. :)
Oh. I'm going to also try and post daily and include the 5 things I'm grateful for each day. Thanks again DuckieSteph for the inspiration :) So here goes 1) The awesome opportunity to become a docent, whether or not it possibly screwed up all my other plans and gave me a headache :) 2) As my momma was so kind to point out, the fact that I have the freedom to choose what I want to be when I grow up. 3) Chocolate icecream with gummy bears, you know, to cure the headache. 4) Possibly finding a home for Zoe, while it makes me sad, I know she'll be much happier and safer. 5) That it's Friday!

100 Instructables projects
Here's my list of 100 Instructables I want to complete :)
- Best Scratching Post Ever
- (Unused) Kitty Litter Facial Mask
- Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk
- Terrarium for frogs (I have 3 baby bullfrogs and have been meaning to upgrade tanks...)
- Lid keepers for pots and pans (so simple, why didn't I think of this??)
- Drinking glasses from wine bottles (could also make vases and candle holders, etc)
- Keeping with wine bottle crafts, cool accent lights, (I like to forage in the recycling bins for cool bottles :)
- Awesome fake rock/basking spot for Spike.
- Self watering recycled (albeit ugly) plant pots I'm thinking I could use these in smaller scale to plant tree seeds, last time I tried they died from me not watering them before we went camping. This might help prevent such an event from re-occuring :)
- Another awesome way to work with recycled glass, very cool after being in the forest and seeing tons of broken bottles and glass. I definitely plan to try this method of making beads.

The List
So I've decided to scrap new year's resolutions in lieu of a Bucket List. New Years can be a time to reflect on the goals I've set here, but really this is a life long adventure, not just a yearly thing. Some of these are big and will take years to accomplish, some of them I'm working on now. Most of them listed here I'm starting over from scratch (for example any roller coasters I've already been on and any states I've previously visited don't count in this case!) My actual list will be posted here. It'll be easier to update it there, this blog is more about my working on the list and accomplishing them than the list itself :)
**** Either working on it now or will be soon ****
