I'm speechless... well maybe not quite :)
So I just went to my bucketlist website to add another goal (Save a life by donating bone marrow - you can register here) and decided to peruse others' goals to see if I can find any new inspiration. Instead I found one that said, To hug a polar bear. No really. This person has added, hug a polar bear, to their life's aspirations. Now I suppose there's a chance that this person could be a zoo keeper. And for a moment that almost makes it seem like it's not the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Almost.
I mean seriously. Have they started playing the Coca-Cola Christmas commercials a little early this year? Does she have any idea how huge and not fuzzy teddy bear like they are? I'll leave this youtube video in dedication to them, a possible future Darwin Award winner. They may accomplish their goal, but it'll likely be the last one they ever do.

It's been how long since I've posted?!
So it's been forever since I've posted or even been to this blog! Life has been crazy but good! I've been busy with school but also making plans that go along with my bucketlist so not entirely slacking, more like neglecting :) I've recently made the inevitable change to my major(s! I'm not going to major in Sociology and Spanish! Very excited!) as well as the decision to transfer to a different college than I had originally planned, which means I'll be moving in about 6 months! I'm really excited about all these changes!
I'm also failing my remedial math class, but it turns out it's okay and that I didn't need to take it in the first place! Ha! Hooray for a liberal arts major! So now I just need to take one more super simple math class specifically for liberal arts majors. I think they should call it Right Brained Math :)
Also in the works are a trip to Washington next summer that will include skydiving #something or other on my list! and a trip back to southern Utah which is always awesome! Good things are in the works! Stay tuned :)
Things I'm grateful for: Waiting till now to go to school because now I really appreciate it, Ollie dog snuggles, support of friends and family, no more summer heat and a pizza that's ready to be pulled out of the oven :)

Beautiful Day!
Terrible quality photo, but you get the idea :) |
So this morning I took the dogs for a hike, one more romp before they say goodbye to their jewels :) I decided to go on a whim after dropping skinny and hawk off at school. I was wearing pj's and flip flops, so it was only a 45 or so minute hike, but it was beautiful. The leaves are changing and the air is crisp and clean. I always come back feeling so energized and refreshed it's amazing to me that I can talk myself out of going as much as I do! So I'm setting a goal for myself to schedule either a morning hike or walk around the lake at least 3 times a week, but hopefully more. Might have to do some evenings, but mornings are my favorite because it leaves me with the energy and motivation to get more done throughout the day. Beyond that, it's time to change my eating habits once and for all. After considering doing Isagenix again, South Beach again, etc I finally decided that Eat to Live is just how I should be eating anyway. I had recently made the decision that I wanted to eat fish occasionally but still overall wanted to eat vegan. The most difficult things about eating this way will be giving up soda, cheese and sugar. Difficult, but I know it's the only way to permanently lose weight and live a healthy, active life. The author of the book recommends eating this way about 90% of the time once the goal weight has been achieved. I think that's reasonable, eating healthy but not so strict with this way of eating that you give up anything you've ever loved. I plan on making a lot of smoothies (to cover up a lot of veggies with fruit :)) and salads, roasted veggies, occasionally fish or tofu, steel cut oats and other whole grains. If I start this now it's at the absolutely worst time with all the holidays coming up. For now I think I'm going to focus on giving up soda, juice, etc and drinking water, and eating more fruits and veggies. Baby steps :)
Today I'm grateful for living in beautiful Colorado with easy access to a lot of amazing hikes, clementine oranges, cool fall days, great hiking buddies and chai.
